This musical box had quite a remarkable transformation. From being one of the most heavily tarnished corroded mechanisms with little function, to a fully working and beautifully presented musical box. Fully restored to its former glory, exactly how it would have be displayed when first made and how the original makers intended!

This musical box was stored for many years in the clients garden shed and when it came in to the workshop it was completely seized up with rust, dust, dirt, spider webs and dried oils! After lots of careful cleaning, rust removal, numerous repairs and a final re-build it was then ready to take pride of place in the museum.
This musical box came to us in need of a full overhaul restoration. The mechanism was very dull and tarnished, the case had been stripped at some point in time previously and the oils had completely dried out meaning every component had to be stripped down and cleaned thoroughly. Them every piece was painstakingly polished to reveal the original beauty of this musical box meaning it can be enjoyed for many years to come.
